ICC T20 World Cup 2012
kicks off on 18th September, 2012 in Sri Lanka. Overall, 27 matches
will be played in this championships among 12 nations between September
18th and October 7th this year. The Future Cricket Tour Programs
(FTP) is the operational body of the tourney. The inaugural match
between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka on Sep. 18 is scheduled to be played at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium while the final match on Oct. 7th will entertain crowd of the Premdasa Stadium.
Participating countries - Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Australia, Ireland, Afghanistan, India, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, West Indies, Pakistan and England.

Format - Same as the 2010 edition - four groups of three in a preliminary round - besides the ten test cricket playing nations, there will be a further two associate / affiliate teams who qualified from the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier staged in the United Arab Emirates on March 13–14, 2012. - top two teams from each group will proceed to the Super Eight stage of the tournament - The Super Eight will consist of two groups. The top two teams from the two Super Eight groups would play the semi-finals, and the semi-final winners would contest the final to determine the world champions in Twenty20 cricket.- points are awarded to the teams as follows:Win : 2 points; No result : 1 point; Loss : 0 points.
